Make-a-Break is a two-person competition created by the legendary Raymond Foreman. This clays game uses eight target throwers which are colorfully numbered 1-7.
There are two #1s, one of which is located to the right and the other to the left of the shooting platform. The shooter is awarded the point/number value for each clay target that is broken. For example, the #1 is worth 1 point, the #3 is worth 3 points etc. The targets are launched as report pairs with ten pairs of targets being attempted. The first target thrown is always a #1 which may be either the right or left side #1. The #1 target must be broken with the first shot or it must be shot at again so that he/she can proceed to the next target. Each shooter will shoot the entire rotation of targets first, for example a #1 followed by a #2, then a #1 followed by a #3, then a #1 followed by the #4 and so on until the shooter has shot the #1 and #7. At that point the shooter will stop and change places with the other shooter.
When there are only four pairs remaining, each shooter must evaluate his/her current score and call the “right” pair so that he/she can capture or hold onto the lead in points. After these four pairs are shot a winner is announced. |
