A light mist hangs over the water
as you and your dog sit quietly and comfortably in a spacious
blind. In the distance you spot a flock of mallards. You answer
their calls and the birds begin to circle the ponds and natural
wetlands around you. Suddenly, they lock their wings and begin
their descent toward your decoys. You raise your gun and smoothly
squeeze the trigger. Once. Twice. Three times. A trio of magnificent
greenheads falls from the sky with a splash and, on your command,
your dog leaps into the water to retrieve the fallen quarry.
You could swear you were hunting in the wild, but you're not.
You're hunting mallards at The Highlands: a great way to condition
your dogs and experience the thrill of bringing down fast-moving
ducks in the off-season.
