T.J. Sommer, owner and proprietor of The Highlands, understands that natural habitat bearing wild game is becoming ever more difficult to find and access. As a result, outdoor enthusiasts are continually searching for safe and secluded environments that are abundant with quarry and free from the worries of encountering other hunters in their field.

The Highlands was established to meet the growing needs of sportsmen who desire a safe venue that will duplicate, or even exceed, the experience they may have found when open, accessible land was more abundant. It has since become the Midwest's premier sportsmen's paradise.

The Highlands has also gained a reputation as a top-level teaching facility. Sportsmen of all experience levels (including children and families) can come to The Highlands to improve their skills and learn safe, proper methods from some of the best instructors in all of North America. Heavy emphasis is also placed on dog handling, since The Highlands is recognized as one of the premier dog-training facilities in the country. In the off-season, hunters can hone their shooting skills at our world-class sporting clays course, and fly fishermen and bow hunters can sharpen their skills all year long.
